HISTORY
AVŞAR FİLM, an old and well-known company, established in 1984 by Şükrü Avşar, who previously had many years of experience in different areas of the industry. Our company, which started in the very beginning by operating movie theatres, soon moved into the acquisition and distribution of foreign features and eventually by adding the production of Turkish movies and T.V. serials, expanded its field of operations and took its place among the top companies of its kind.
Bakırköy Avşar Theatre (6 screens), Avcılar Avşar Theatre (5 screens), Avcılar New Avşar Theatre (3 screens) are the first theatres that our company operates in Istanbul. Avsar Film wins the approval of the industry by starting to own and operate movie theatres in three major metropolises such as Ankara, Izmir and Konya in the beginning of 2007. As these three major metropolises have high-level of culture and social life the features that are to be screened in these theatres, have the chance to meet with a wide range of audiences. Ankara Armada Theatre (10 screens), Ankara Metropol Theatre (8 screens), Izmir Palmiye Avşar Theatre (8 screens), Konya Kulesite Avşar Theatre (8 screens) are the most recent ones which enlarged the chain of Avsar Theatres. Avsar Film, the forerunner of multi-screens in theatres, releases foreign features as well as the Turkish movies not only on its own theatres but also on other leading theatres.
We have been importing famous and Oscar wining films for many years from various countries such as U.S.A, Germany, France and Italy and have been extremely successful in providing a very widespread theatre distribution and making sure that these movies reach to masses of people and are seen by a wide range of audiences. New Line, Summit, Lakeshore, Icon, Pathe, Studiocanal and TFI International are only a few of the companies Avsar Film collaborates. A few examples of these movies are Dances with Wolves, Fried Green Tomatoes, Driving Miss Daisy, Mississippi Burning, The House of the Spirits, Notting Hill, The Whole Nine Yards, Kill Bill Volume 1&2, The Company, Shall We Dance, Finding Neverland, Find Me Guilty, Apocalypto, The Great Raid and Rendition.
Avsar Film became a household name by producing features and T.V. serials. Our company holds a special place in the field and created a success story due to our pioneering attitude in project development and our attention to high quality.
Respectively, The Messenger, My Father and Son, Easy Money, The Fellow Citizen and Mrs.Salkım's Diamonds are the features which boomed in Turkey as well as all over the world and are seen by masses of spectators. Additionally, producing outstanding TV serials such as "Kurşun Yarası", "Çemberimde Gül Oya", "Kırık Kanatlar" and "Ihlamurlar Altında" which were on air on the leading channels of Turkey like Channel D, ATV, SHOW TV and achieving high-level ratings, ranked Avsar Film among one of the esteemed companies in Turkey. "Çemberimde Gül Oya" and "Ihlamurlar Altında" have been on air on channel MBC in Dubai and again achieving high-level ratings, as well.
